As we ventured out of Stirling on the Old Military Road which lead us through Dunblane and out into the lowland wilds of Perthshire….Braco! From there we started the climb, following the Knaik up and ducking between Ben Clach and Dunruchan Hill down to Comire. At this stage we aroused the attention of the sleepy locals who, when peering through their shuttered doors were startled to see so many Minis having so much fun. As we then headed west we began to hear the banjos duelling in the distance as we skirted along Loch Earn on our way to Bandit Country!

Through Lochearnhead, down Glen Dochart the Minis began to get nervous as they passed through Crianlarich as the map seemed to be directing them directly in to the path of DANGER in Glen Orchy!

[Anonymous’ notes on Glen Orchy. This is the hunting ground of the infamous bandit, The Tea Lady, and her (his?? - Ed) merry band of a single Blues Brother and an Orange]

And woe! The Tea Lady had gotten wind of our Fourth Thistle Run and had cunningly planned an ambush! Hiding out in a lay-by in the beautiful Glen Orchy she (he!!!! – Ed) mysteriously developed a generous streak during the muggings and provided each Mini with a splendiferous “I’ve been mugged on the Thistle Run” mug. How nice!

We at the miniclan are delighted to announce that the 2016 Thistle Run has raised a record-breaking £8000 for the charities, CLAPA and RNLI Anstruther.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed so generously to the event, and also to all of our volunteers who have spent months planning and organising the day to make it go as smoothly as possible.
