For some it was an early start to the picturesque setting of a car park in Stirling Uni, well okay the Wallace Monument towered majestically over us but we did have to contend with a rogue Mazda that had, by rumour, never been moved in 6 months! We pondered bouncing said Mazda out of the way but when the security guards asked us what we were doing we decided against it.

Image From that early time the organisation was set up: Check Point Charlie established, Scorcher at the front gates as a welcoming guide and the tea van arrived just in time for the first of the early Clanners, decked with Satires and Lion Rampant, to ensure their place at the front of the Thistle Run convoy.

Over the course of 2 hours 140(?) minis were carefully directed, cajoled, gathered and repaired in a rather tight wee space (around said Mazda) until just before 10.30, where upon your compere for the day, Collin X, delivered the run instructions in his own inimitable style and then we were off to Oban, with the departure covered live by Central FM.

Thistle Run News… It may only be February but work is already well underway organising the 2018 Thistle Run. This year sees a return to the Newtongrange to Eyemouth route. The Mini Clan is pleased to announce that the date has been confirmed and that TR2018 will take place on 27th May 2018. Registration will be opening in due course, so keep an eye on the website, forum and facebook for updates. As always, The Mini Clan will be supporting two charities with the proceeds of 2018 Thistle Run. This year the charities chosen are Sands and Eyemouth RNLI. See below for some more information on these charities and the work they do. We all know the familiar logo and the fantastic work that the RNLI carry out up and down the country. The Miniclan is a regular supporter of the RNLI https://rnli.org https://www.sands.org.uk
